A 76,000 sqm world-class arena — navigated through a data-rich digital environment built for both opening night and the decades after.
World-class arenas don't get second chances. The owner faced two compounding risks: a complex, culturally inspired architectural form built on randomized Najdi panel geometry, and an enormous asset data burden — thousands of unique architectural and interior components across seating, hospitality, and support zones, every one of which had to carry the right metadata for long-term facility management. Without rigorous coordination, the project faced a familiar hyperscale-arena trap: clashes multiplying late in design, asset data fracturing across disciplines, and a documentation set that couldn't support a clean handover to construction or operations. The exposure ran from change orders during build to operational drag for the life of the venue.
fivD established a single source of truth and ran the project as a Data-Centric Delivery system. We anchored model health across architectural and interior disciplines through a unified BIM Execution Plan, then layered in real-time issue tracking through Autodesk Construction Cloud and custom progress monitors so every stakeholder saw the same picture at the same time. From Schematic Design forward, Revit templates aligned the team to international standards and rigid project requirements. Navisworks, ACC Issues, and specialized Revit plugins kept coordination disciplined; embedded team integration kept the feedback loop tight. No silos. No data drift. No surprises at handover.
We led BIM modeling and documentation for interior hospitality zones and core architectural elements, translating design intent into a structured, buildable digital environment. We supported the client's computational team on facade rationalization — technically validating the randomized Najdi panel distribution within the BIM model so cultural identity and constructability advanced together. Bi-weekly clash detection in Navisworks resolved thousands of interdisciplinary conflicts before they reached the site. Rigorous Asset Information Requirements audits ensured every modeled component carried the precise parameters needed for COBie compliance and long-term operational use, building a data framework that would serve the venue for its entire lifecycle.
The owner gained a high-fidelity, data-rich digital asset with complete technical alignment between architectural form and complex infrastructure — a clash-free model and fully coordinated documentation set that met all international submission standards, streamlined the design-to-construction transition, and established a robust operational framework for the life of this iconic cultural landmark.
